About Swinhoe Farm Logs
Swinhoe farm is located approximately a mile north of Belford in Northumberland. We are a family run business and we chose to diversify into firewood production in 2009. Since then our operation has grown substantially.
We were Tenant farmers at Swinhoe from 1940 until Nov 2007 when we purchased the farm and also approximately 600 acres of woodland. We were aware that the woodland had been severely undermanaged and began work to bring it back into good management practices through replanting areas that were clear felled and to begin thinning work that had been neglected.
At the time fossil fuel prices were rising rapidly and people were looking at ways to reduce their heating bills and to reduce their carbon footprint. Therefore we decided to start Swinhoe Farm logs to meet these consumer demands. Our company ethos is that of quality work that promotes long term sustainability both in the work we do on the farm and off.
